The world’s oldest ever baby has been born in Ohio to parents Lindsey and Tim Pierce.
Thaddeus Daniel Pierce was born in London, Ohio and created a new world record as the oldest baby ever born.
Despite being a newborn, he was developed from an embryo created when his father, Tim, was still a toddler himself.
The couple ‘adopted’ the embryo from Linda Archerd – who shared that the entire thing was ‘pretty surreal’.
Speaking for the MIT Technology Review, she said: “It’s hard to even believe,” sharing that her family and other members of her church described it ‘like something from a sci-fi movie.’
Thaddeus’ embryo was made in 1994 and had been stored for over 30 years.
Lindsey shared: “The baby has a 30-year-old sister.”
Linda made the embryo with her husband at the time, to have a baby in the early 90s. As a result, they successfully created four, allowing Linda to eventually have one baby girl.
The other 3 embryos were stored with the plan to have the rest later in life.
However, Linda and her husband divorced and she began to go through menopause. So, she started looking into embryo ‘adoption’.
“I didn’t want them to go out of the country,” she shared. “And being Christian is very important to me, because I am.”
After Lindsey and Tim tired for a baby for over seven years, they started looking into embryo adoption and were matched with two of Linda’s.
One of those ended up being Thaddeus.
Linda shared that she would love to meet the baby adding that he resembles her own daughter, born 30 years prior: “I wish that they didn’t live so far away from me … He is perfect!” she said. “We didn’t go into it thinking we would break any records. We just wanted to have a baby.”
