Gary Sinise, the star of Forrest Gump, has shared the devastating news of his son’s passing, revealing that McCanna Anthony “Mac” Sinise died at the age of 33 following a prolonged struggle with cancer.

Mac was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer known as chordoma on August 8, 2018, just a few months after his mother, Moira, received a diagnosis of stage three breast cancer. While Moira’s treatment proved successful, Mac’s health continued to decline.

As time progressed, the disease significantly impacted his mobility, ultimately resulting in paralysis from the waist down. Despite undergoing numerous surgeries and facing escalating physical challenges, Mac confronted his illness with remarkable resolve.

In a heartfelt statement, Gary Sinise conveyed the profound sorrow he feels, describing the loss of a child as an unfathomable pain. He extended his sympathy to other families who have endured similar tragedies.

Sinise reflected on the family’s five-and-a-half-year journey through cancer, acknowledging that although their hearts are heavy with grief, they find solace in the knowledge that Mac is free from suffering and are motivated by his strength and resilience.

Tributes from fellow celebrities, including Angie Harmon and Alyssa Milano, flooded in, as they offered messages of love, prayers, and support for Sinise and his family.

Despite his illness, Mac led a meaningful life. He collaborated with the Gary Sinise Foundation, pursued his passion for music, and performed as a drummer with his father in the Lt. Dan Band.

Before his death, Mac finalized an album titled Resurrection & Revival, which the family intends to release. He was laid to rest on January 5, leaving a legacy characterized by courage, creativity, and resilience.
